In addition to the excellent skiing already available in Rauris, a new red run is currently under construction adjacent to the existing nerve jangling Haimalm Black Run with estimated completion in December 2007. So now, loads more skiiers will be able to ski back down to Rauris instead of having to navigate around the mountain or taking the gondola back down again. The slope will also house a 60,000m3 water reservoir, which will be used to power several permanent snow machines to enable skiing throughout the Winter season. The areas highlighted in yellow are the new slopes which will be supported by new fixed snow cannons and the red area is where the new run will be cut into the mountain.
Many thanks to Stephanie Ellis at Austrian Chalets for the information and picture.
